Tails stayed there kneeling down in front of the flowers at the alter. Tails let out one heavy sigh and decided against crying, weeping, or generally feeling bad and decided to pic one of the flowers and crush it in his hand. From there he took what was left and dumped it into a miniature sample station he carried with him and waited as it hummed and ran its tests. Sheva looked about at all the flowers and found no source of sun at all.
"How can these survive underground?" Chris looked down to Tails who was reading bits of paper from the machine and took his own analysis.
"These are no ordinary flowers..." Chris looked around a little and spied a box laying partially buried in the dirt "Wait!" Chris ran over to it and Sheva followed. When they got there Chris wiped a few layers of dirt from the box. Once the dirt was clear there was a distinct logo of an umbrella on it. "Umbrella...?"
"what?" Sheva said startled. "What was Umbrella doing here?" Chris kept looking around and spied a large tent with a Tricell logo on it.
"I dont know. But it doesn't look like anyone has been here for quite a while." Sheva nodded and they returned to Tails who was laying on his back and everything was already packed back up.
"The Progenitor virus... This is where it all started." Chris looked at Tails in shock
"Are you sure?"
"yes, but that leaves one question..." Sheva picked up on all of this.
"Why is Tricell here?" They all looked around more not knowing what else to do. After a moment of rest Tails rose and they all began to move into the tent they saw. As they enter it reveals there is tile and a steel door on the other end of the tent. Chris goes up to it and opens it peeking in to see whats inside before he fully steps in opening the  door and the other two follow him in. There is just a tunnel with several rooms running through it. The tunnel is lined with tile and steel so it looks sleek and almost like a basement.
"An underground laboratory, who knew?" Tails looked around as they walked forward looking through windows, some broken, into dark rooms that looked like common offices. They kept pressing forward and soon they saw claw marks that were in rows of three and were very large and long along the walls. They began to see blood splatters everywhere along the walls.
"what do you think happened to them?" Sheva was walking a little closer to the group than normal. Everyone was looking around nervously.
"Where are all the bodies?" Chris looked into the rooms as deep as he could but the darkness hid most of the contents. Tails had his head pointed at the ground his eyes locked to the floors of the tiles. He was almost shaking as they walk and his ears and tails were twitching madly as every little sound felt like something was creeping up behind them. They pressed into one of the offices because one of the passageways were packed with steel boxes too the ceiling and were to heaving to move them. They proceeded into the room and they pulled out flashlights and held them in their off hands. Even Tails who could see better in the dark pulled one out as there was no light sources in here besides the humming from a computer screen with its screen saver running. It was of a pacman maze with AI playing. They looked around with their flashlights nervously and found only one other door that had a steel wheel like in a boat to open it. They began to make their way for it.
Tails heard rustling towards his left and quickly snapped in that direction. There was nothing there at all. Then he heard it behind him and snapped there.
"God dont hurt me!" A man in a lab coat stumbled away slightly and fell to his back. "P-please get away! You'll bring the monsters back!"
"don't worry we won-" Chris stopped mid sentence as it sounded like something fell from the other end of the room. All three of them snapped in that direction. They heard the man scream out for his life and a sickening squishing sound. They all snapped towards where the man was and all they saw was his bloody body being dragged into the vents. He was clawing at the sides for grip against whatever was pulling him.
"HELP ME!" The man kept screaming then suddenly went limp as some muscle tongue like tentacle ripped through his throat. He went limp and was dragged out of sight through the vent. Sheva turned towards the door and Chris was already running towards it.
"We have to get out of here now!" Chris struggled with the door a little but got it opened and they all rushed through it as fast as they could. Tails closed and locked the door and they lifted their flashlights up again and kept running. They could hear what sounded like claws on the tiles behind them as they kept running. There was an elevator at the end and Chris ran into it pressing the button more times than was necessary as the light came on.
"Come on, come on!" Tails had lifted his flashlight and got a target on something moving on all fours on the ceiling and started to shoot at it yelling. Each shot flashed the room revealing the hall was crawling with humanoid creatures bent over on all fours. They had three fingers and toes that were pretty much their entire foot. They looked like their claws were made of steel as they got closer. Everyone began to fire madly at the creatures as they got closer and closer. The elevator opened up after what seemed like a lifetime and they all crowded into it quickly.
"Hit the button Chris, now!" Sheva yelled as they entered the elevator. The door closed just in time as one of the creatures slammed up against the door. The elevator began it's long climb up to the peaks of the mountains. Everyone slumped to the ground and enjoyed a several minute climb.
"I-I can't believe we made it. I don't even want to know what those things were" Sheva leaned her back against the elevator.
"Neither do I" Chris said. Eventually they got to the top and the elevator opened up and they slowly stepped out into a well lit area. As they walked down a small corridor they opened a door and walked into a very impressive area. There was a catwalk to a large disk shaped area in the center of the room on a very large pole that extended down into the shadows below. As they walked towards a computer in the center of the disk they looked around at what seemed like experimental pods with thousands of them lining the walls around them all the way to the depths of the shadows below them. As they stepped onto the disk they heard a warning bell and watched as one of the pods extended a little from the wall and it opened up. There was the body of a withered man that could have been no more than twenty. He had no expression on his face as his restraints were released and he fell into the abyss without a word.
"Oh my god, how many people have they taken to experiment on?" Sheva spun in a circle looking at all the pods as they walked to the computer. Tails motioned for Chris to be first and he nodded. There was a search on the computer and he typed in 'Jill Valentine'. A moment later the disk they were on began to descend. Lights came on as they went deeper down. An image of Jill displayed on the screen as they kept going deeper and then slowly halted. One of the pods on the wall began to extend all the way to the platform. Everyone walked over to it as it opened up and the liquid inside fell out, but there was no one in the pod, it was empty.
"Damn it! Where is she?"
"Mr. Redfield." Everyone turned around towards the screen and saw the image of a very high class looking woman who wore quite the skimpy dress. "How nice to finally make your acquaintance" She grinned confidently.
"who the hell are you?" Chris demanded.
"Excella Gionme. She works for Tricell!" Sheva announced startled.
"Nice, you've done your homework" Excella mocked. Sheva stepped forward
"An officer in the global pharmaceutical consortium... Why!?"
"As if I need to explain myself to you. Although, weren't you three given orders to retreat?"
"So it WAS you!" Tails proclaimed. Excella giggled lightly.
"Where is Jill!?"
"Jill...? Even if I did know do you think I would tell you?"
"Cut the crap, tell me where she is!" Chris was shouting
"As soon as you are done with your little vigilante mission. You should leave as soon as possible. There is nothing here worth throwing your lives away for" The transmission was cut and Chris slammed his fists against the computer.
"Chris..." Tails put his hand on Chris' shoulder. Chris nodded and stepped away. Tails did a search by photo and uploaded a picture of Cosmo into the computer. It hummed to live and they began to move a few sections lower and then the same process repeated. Tails alone ran up to the pod as it opened. Tails almost collapsed crying with joy as Cosmo fell barely stable into his arms.
