Cody looked around and found himself with his old squad back in the old cities somewhere across the other side of the solar system. The planet name, nor the city, were named. The soldiers that were occupying it with him nicknamed it A.T. II. It was a joke about how it had almost every terrain type twice over on this planet alone, which was extremely rare. His unit, the 304th Tactical Infantry Task Force, was assigned to clear the area of all terrorist activity. It wasn't so much terrorism as it was gorilla warfare. They were the perfect unit for the job, highly versatile with a remarkable amount of resourcefulness in each and every man in the unit. The buildings around them had been around for nearly sixty years. Tall skyscrapers in a highly advanced society. Jobs like this were difficult in these highly populated areas. They had swept through the area several weeks ago. They had secured the city and were doing constant checks while they awaited new orders. But it was obvious that they were just left out here while the rest of the forces battled in the ice lands and jungles. Cody didn't mind though, less blood on his hands, less people to have to worry about.
Cody took off his helmet and brushed off the red cross painted on his left shoulder. He lay his head back against the wall of this small business owned market. He smiled at the children that glanced at him and he waved at those who would wave to him. It was a pretty nice job, he would sit and watch people as they enter and leave the store. Cody stretched letting out a big yawn as he dug into his pack. He pulled out an ointment from his back and rolled up this pants to his knees. There were heavy burns on his shins and ankles from a fire that broke out a while ago. Supposedly it was caused by a careless smoker, but further investigation reviled that it was in fact a few children with fireworks. He smiled again at the burns, at least it wasn't any soldiers doing. After he applied the ointments he replaced everything back in his bag and rolled his pants back down. His ears pricked up as he heard a train rolling in. He flinched a little as the train began to brake rapidly. Cody sighed, the train operator must have not realized this was his stop. There was suddenly a loud thump and a few moments later what sounded like an explosion broke through the air. The building Cody was in shook violently and it began to collapse with people running and screaming everywhere. The building was already falling apart from the blast and the building wasn't even hit. The shock wave sent many buildings in the area to the ground already. Cody had to hurry there was nothing he could do, was there? He froze for a moment looking into the crowd behind him. All rushing towards the doors, as parts fell and crushed people. Cody stood while time froze for just a moment where he saw a girl standing in front of him. She was a seedarian, it was amazing that there was one alive, and here of all places. She didn't seem to be aware of his presence in fact she seemed almost completely oblivious to the surrounding. Cody suddenly found himself in his cloths, no weapon, no gear, just regular clothes. The setting around him fell apart to darkness but light at the same time. He realized he was dreaming again, of his past life in the military. Cody reached out for the girl then realized who it was. "C-Cosmo?"
Just as Cody touched her, images began to flash through him, he saw everything. Tails fighting strange people and strange creatures and someone named Irving. Everything, absolutely everything that Tails had gone through while he was conscious, Cody had just lived through himself. Cody thrashed about in bed taking in all the information way to fast. He woke up breathing heavily and looked around the room frantically. He saw Elisia laying down facing him hugging a pillow. He smiled but half cursed himself because that pillow could have been him. Cody chuckled lightly at the thought as his attention turned to a TV that was turned on. The news about Tails was on and was probably on all night. The volume was a good enough to hear clearly, that would explain the interruption to his nightmare. Cody stretched a little and practically fell backwards back onto the bed. Elisia stirred lightly then opened her eyes looking at Cody. She stretched her legs out still holding the pillow and yawned. "Morning Cody." She said softly and groggily. "Sorry about the TV, I couldn't sleep." Cody smiled at Elisia lightly.
"Don't worry about it, you can just wake me next time if you have trouble." Cody sat back up and realized he was shirtless, He placed his hand on his chest and scratched at his fur. "I need a shower." Elisia rolled onto her back.
"I do to, we should take one together to save water!" Elisia smiled and laughed. Cody blushed and turned his head to hide it.
"Jeeze, your just full of ideas huh?" Elisia rolled back onto her stomach and turned her body towards Cody.
"No I just like making you blush, it's fun!" She smiled and laughed again. Cody in turn just blushed more and he turned his back to her completely.
"All right then well you can take a shower first, I'll be downstairs when your done, there are towels in there already." Cody pointed towards the bathroom door. Elisia sighed, but got up.
"Well all right then, I'll see you soon then." She walked into the bathroom and closed the door. Cody got up fully and stretched yawning. He proceeded downstairs into the kitchen to gather his thoughts, he would have to talk to Sonic and the others about this soon. Cody sighed as he prepared breakfast; meat, eggs, and nice homemade waffles. By the time Cody was done cooking and cleaning everything back up Elisia started to walk down the stairs humming lightly to herself. "I didn't know you were such a girl Cody" She laughed lightly.
"What do you, oh you mean the shampoos and soaps. Heh well just because I'm a guy doesn't mean I cant be cleanly." Elisia giggled again.
"Well I guess I'm lucky otherwise I wouldn't have gotten such a refreshing shower in. I fell in love with your shower, its so huge and comfortable!" Elisia skipped about happily. Cody chuckled and smiled at her.
"Well I'm glad you liked it, I spent a lot to have my own little world in there, so breakfast is ready if your hungry." Cody grabbed his own food and began to eat. Elisia shook her head lightly and smiled at Cody.
"You can cook too, that's impressive, for a guy. But no thanks it smells yummy but if I eat in the morning my tummy gets mad at me." Cody smiled at Elisia, she spoke somewhat like a child at times but it just made her more adorable. He could tell she was very mature but kept that playful side to her. As more time passed Cody felt himself fall more and more for her. Eventually he would have to come out with all his feelings but it would have to wait. Elisia went and sat on a couch just behind Cody and was facing a large plasma screen TV mounted on the wall. Cody had many nicknacks around his home, mostly just shelves full of mechanical parts and old guns and swords. He had a few naval items laying around which added to the peaceful tinkerer look. Cody ate in silence before he headed upstairs to take a refreshing shower. About twenty minutes later he came back downstairs to see what Elisia was up to.
"Hey Elisia I'm headin to Vanilla's house, I need to see if I can get a hold of Sonic and everyone else." Cody walked near the door to the garage waiting for Elisia to reply. Elisia turned off the TV and walked over to where Cody was.
"I'll come too, I don't like missing the action." Elisia said sternly but happily.
"All right well lets get going, oh and I have a present for you. Do you like cars or motorcycles more?" Cody grinned with pleasure.
"Um, I like motorcycles more, why?" Elisia leaned forward a little. Cody had a huge grin on his face when he opened the door to the garage. There were two sport cars and two "Ninja Bikes" as they were nicknamed. They were both colored blue and the cars were black and white.
"You can have a car and a bike, my treat." Cody smiled as Elisia stood at the door staring at the motorcycle.
"R-Really? I can just have one just like that? They look kinda expensive" Elisia felt a little unsure about the gift.
"Don't worry about they weren't that much compared to what I can make in one job." Elisia looked up at Cody with a big smile on her face.
"Oh thank you so much Cody!" Elisia ran up to one of the bikes and took the helmet off of it and put it on. "Common lets go!" She got onto the bike and turned it on quickly, she looked like she had been riding motorcycles for a while. Cody smiled and pushed a button to open the door and got on his motorcycle. Cody looked over to Elisia and smiled behind his visor.
"You know where Vanilla's house is?" Cody asked. Elisia nodded back at Cody.
"Yeah of course!" Cody chuckled lightly.
"All right I'll be there soon wait for me, ok?" Elisia nodded and drove out of the garage. Cody sighed and drove slowly up to the car that was parked outside the garage and kicked it. "Rolf wake up!" Cody laughed as Rolf slowly woke up and waved at him nodding. Cody nodded back and drove off after Elisia.
After a while Cody started to feel a little light headed so he slowed down and stopped on the side of the road. He was in the country so he was all alone, he didn't know why but he felt scared. He felt like he was having flash backs but everything he thought didn't even seem real. It all just seemed like it was his imagination playing tricks on him. After a moment the feeling passed and he began to drive towards Vanilla's house again. After a couple of minutes he parked next to Elisia's bike next to the house and walked in. "Hey I'm here finally" he pronounced. Cody saw that everyone was in the living room and the TV was on in the corner. A lot had happened and they had just come up to speed on it. Sonic was sitting in the corner of the room and he appeared to be rocking very slightly and thinking. Amy was cuddled up next to him while  Cream and Vanilla sat next to each other. Then Shadow was in the opposite corner to Sonic. Knuckles sat closest to the TV and was still watching it and Dr. Robotnik was behind Cody at the door standing up. Elisia got up and stood close to Cody, the whole room was quiet.
"So we know the situation here then." Everyone nodded back to Cody who then turned to Robotnik. "I believe I have found a way to send someone to help Tails, and I need your help doctor." Cody pulled the vial of water from his pack. "This was from that rainstorm the other day, as you may have known its from the dimension Tails is in now."
"So you want me to run an analysis on it and find a way to send it back so we can learn how to send one of us there, sure that will be easy" Robotnik took the vial and gave it to his assitant "Take it back to the lab" The little robot nodded and flew away.
"Right well lets start planning" Cody walked into the center of the room and started to say his ideas.
